Cooperantes Seniors among the 19 organisations chosen to bring global citizenship education to Extremadura’s towns
The Provincial Council of Badajoz’s 2026 call shares out €112,987 for awareness-raising and training on international cooperation, human rights, equality and a culture of peace.
Mérida, 16 September 2026. The Asociación Cooperantes Seniors de Extremadura — literally “Senior Aid Workers of Extremadura” — is one of 19 organisations receiving grants this year from the Diputación de Badajoz, the provincial council of Badajoz in western Spain, for global citizenship education projects. The decision was published in the Provincial Official Gazette (BOP) on Monday 14 September.
The total budget is €112,987.90. According to the published information, most organisations receive €6,000 and none less than €5,000; the exact amount for each project has not been detailed.
The funded projects cover awareness-raising, training, information and research. They aim to bring international cooperation, human rights, equality, social justice and a culture of peace closer to citizens, with special attention to towns of fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
Other organisations on the list include Médicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World), the Spanish Red Cross, Cáritas Diocesana de Mérida-Badajoz and Farmacéuticos Mundi.
